New Phone

Well, it's time for an upgrade. 2 years after I met Sam for the first time, I'm going to be upgrading (because that's the release date). Going for the HTC Evo, running Android. It's billed as the most technologically advanced phone in the US market. It puts everything else to shame. It also has 4G, which, on sprint, is the biggest and best 4G network in the world right now. I'm going to pre-order it at best buy as soon as I can, and get a 100 dollar discount. I'm pretty pumped for it, since I've been kicking this blackberry around for so long. Granted, I'll miss a few features on my BB, but I'm sure this phone will more than make up for them.

Some of the highlights of the phone are the 4.3 inch touch screen, one of, if not the biggest on the market. WiFi capability for up to 8 child devices, which means it can spit out 4g speeds to 8 nearby wifi devices, whether it be computers, other phones, ipods, etc. It has an FM tuner, so I can listen to the radio :-D. Stereo bluetooth, motion and proximity sensors, HD video recorder. 8 megapixel camera on the front, and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, for video conferences, and live streaming. HDMI output, so you can connect it to your TV, and stream HD movies straight to the TV. GPS navigation, which is a must, since I suck with directions. The camera software is really impressive. You can adjust all sorts of settings, like brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc, and do HD video and picture editing right on the phone. I use the term phone rather loosely. I haven't confirmed if it can actually make calls or not.

I'm pretty excited though. I haven't had a new to the market phone before EVER. I'll feel like one of those iphone geeks who stood in line to pay 800 bucks for their piece of shit, except this phone is already tested, as it's a refined edition of the HD2, and it only costs 200 bucks.

Get the music junk app... I can download songs for free in seconds that are only found online in torrents that are long dead.

Hows that phone working out for you?

I got the Droid X and its pretty enjoyable.

So far it's been awesome. My only issue is, due to the nature of my work, I seem to get a lot of metal dust, and metal shavings on the phone, which subsequently wipes out the external speaker. I suppose the solution would be to just not bring it into the shop with me.
